Ellen Howe enters her seventh season at Siena
Dec. 14, 2012
Seventh year head coach Ellen Howe has announced the 2013 Siena Water Polo schedule. The first game for the campaign will be on Feb. 23.
“I am very excited for our schedule this season,” Howe said. “I think we will play some quality games early that will prepare us well for MAAC games.”
Four top-20 teams highlight the Saints' schedule this season, beginning with a Princeton Tigers team that was ranked No. 10 last season. Siena will continue their first tournament of the year when they play George Washington, Mercyhurst, and Harvard.
After taking part in the Siena Invite, two of only three home games the Saints will have, the squad will hit the road for a couple of tournaments including the Hartwick Invite and the Wolverine Invitational, hosted by Michigan.
Siena will compete in four conference games before heading to California in their annual West Coast trip. The Saints currently have six California natives on their roster, and they will head back to the Golden State to compete in three games against Whittier, Chapman University, and the California Institute of Technology.
The squad will end its non-conference slate, and home campaign, Apr. 3 on Senior Night against Hartwick. Before that game, the program will honor the three current seniors.
Siena will end their campaign on the road for the final eight competitions. All of the games will be conference matches leading up to the MAAC tournament.
The conference tournament will be held in Poughkeepsie, N.Y. this season hosted by Marist College.
