LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. - Siena Water Polo coach Ellen Howe has announced her incoming recruiting class which will enroll in the College beginning this fall and begin competition next February. Lea Allen (Saline, Mich./Saline) and Melanie Boehrig (Santee, Calif./The Bishops School) will comprise the Siena Water Polo Class of 2014.

Allen, who was the captain of her water polo team this past season, had amassed 127 goals and 62 assists through her junior year. Last season, she led her team to the State Championship Game. In 2009, she was an Honorable Mention State Tournament selection, Second Team All-State and All-Region East and was also a member of the Midwest Zone and Junior Olympic teams. Allen will also be a member of the Siena Swimming and Diving team.

"We are thrilled to have Lea be a part of the Siena Water Polo program next year," said Howe. "She is a phenomenal athlete and will make an immediate impact on our offense."

Boehrig was named the Grommet of the Year for San Diego County and led her team to a CIF Section II Championship in 2007 and runner-up finishes the past three seasons. A 2010 TYR Cup All-Tournament Team selection, Boehrig also was a four-time Union Tribune All-Academic Team selection. Additionally, Boehrig was a member of the San Diego Shores Water Polo Club which coach Howe also once played for.

"Melanie comes out of one of the best high school and club water polo teams in the country," noted Howe. "She has excellent fundamentals and game sense and will be a solid all-around player for us. I am excited to add another talent from San Diego to our team."

Allen and Boehrig join a squad that loses just one player (Gina Guevara) from this past year's team which finished 12-23 overall and qualified for the MAAC Tournament for just the second time in program history.
