Lea Allen Wins MAAC Player of the Week

Lea Allen has already tabbed the fifth most goals in single season

April 9, 2013

Junior attacker Lea Allen was awarded the MAAC Player of the Week award for the second time this season.  Allen was the main offensive threat for two key Saints’ wins to keep them in the playoff race.

Allen tallied a team-high 16 goals and shot 44 percent as the Saints matched their win total of last season, picking up two key MAAC wins.  Allen also dished out six assists, and was solid on the defensive side with four steal, five ejections drawn, and four field blocks.  In the Saints’ overtime win against VMI, Allen tallied four goals, including one in overtime and also two assists in the extra frame.  She also won 11 of her 14 swim offs in the week.

For the season, Allen has tallied 66 goals, which is 18 shy of a single season record.  Allen will have to average 4.5 goals in the final four games, barring a playoff appearance, to break the mark set by current assistant coach Camille Norman.

Siena will be back in the water on Saturday as they take on Wagner and Marist.
