Siena Water Polo will honor its two seniors, Lea Allen and Melanie Boehrig this afternoon, prior to the start of their match against Villanova at 4 p.m.
After coming off an exhilarating win against VMI, The Saints (6-19, 2-7) look to improve their home record to 3-2 when they face off against Villanova.
Siena would love to send out its senior class with a home win. The Saints' senior class consists of Lea Allen and Melanie Boehrig, Allen who suffered an injury earlier in the season has been cleared to return to play this weekend. She has posted 27 goals in 13 games thus far; Boehrig has tallied 36 goals in 25 games for Siena this season.
Entering today, Allen is fifth all-time with 231 points, fourth all-time with 144 goals and sixth in assists, with 87. Has recorded 74 points, placing her sixth all-time with 228 and has ammassed over 40 assists in the last two seasons, good for fourth all-time with 118.
The last meeting between the two teams resulted in an overtime loss for the Saints, Stephanie Bundas and Melanie Boehrig tallied back-to-back goals just 30 seconds apart to tie the game at seven. Lea Allen would give the Saints the one point lead with a score with 1:35 remaining.
The Wildcats took advantage of a Siena ejection when Julia Penkal tied the game with 1:21 to go.
Siena elected to go into overtime and tied the game with 2:43 to go in the second extra period after another score by Allen. But Villanova tallied the final goals to secure a spot in Poughkeepsie for a shot at the MAAC title.
