LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. - Siena water polo captain Lauren Garrigan was named MAAC Offensive Player of the Week as announced by league officials on Tuesday. Garrigan led Siena with 18 goals and 22 points last week as the Saints' won three of their five games.
A native of Kailua, Hawaii, Garrigan was instrumental in Siena's wins over Mercyhurst and Gannon Saturday at the Wolverine Invite. She scored a hat trick against Mercyhurst and followed that up with a ten point performance, tallying seven goals and three assists in the victory over Gannon. Five of her seven goals came in the third period, including the game winner.
On the final day of the Invite, she scored five goals and added an assist in a narrow loss to MAAC rival Marist. A MAAC Preseason All-First Team selection, Garrigan has scored a league-high 45 goals in just 16 games this season.
Garrigan is the second Saint to earn All-MAAC honors this season. Freshman goalie Jennifer Kissel was tabbed MAAC Rookie of the Week on both Feb. 24 and Mar. 3.
Garrigan and the Saints return to action for the Villanova Invitational on Saturday Mar. 28 in Villanova, Pa.
