LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. - Siena freshman utility Alexandra McDowell was named the MAAC Water Polo League Rookie of the Week as announced by conference headquarters Tuesday afternoon. It marks the second straight week that a Siena freshman has won the award, as Monica Chaviano earned the same honor last week.

McDowell registered her first collegiate goal and added five assists in Siena's three games last week. She tallied two assists in a loss Saturday to George Washington, but it was her performance on Sunday that stood out the most.

In the final game of the Bison Invitational, the Miami, Fla. native who ironically attended the same high school as teammate and last week's award winner Chaviano (Gulliver Prep), scored the game-winning goal in Siena's first victory of the year over Mercyhurst. Additionally, she added three assists to lead the Saints with four points.

McDowell and the Saints return to action Monday when they travel to Hartwick for a 6 p.m. start.
