The Siena Water Polo team got back in the win column after sweeping their final two MAAC games in Poughkeepsie, N.Y. The Saints defeat VMI 15-11 and edged Saint Francis 11-10. Lea Allen totaled eight goals on the day, while Stephanie Bundas had six.
In the first game, Siena came back from a 5-2 halftime deficit and trailed 8-6 going into the final period. Siena would tie the game up in the fourth, from goals off the hands of Bundas and two from Melanie Boehrig to force their second consecutive overtime game.
In the extra period, Allen dished out two assists and picked up a goal while Rebecca Robinson and Jacquelyn Verdon also tallied scores. Bundas and Cally Timm would net shots in the second overtime period for the 15-11 win.
Timm and Verdon scored twice in the contest while Allen and Bundas both picked up hat tricks. Jasmine Carrillo led the team on the defensive side with three steals and Madeline Hurley had nine saves in the cage.
Siena (9-14, 3-5 MAAC) also had to come back from a fourth quarter deficit against Saint Francis. The Saints would tally four goals in the fourth, two by Allen and one from Timm and Bundas.
Allen led the way once again with four goals while Bundas netted three. Timm and Kori Swieter each had three steals to lead the squad.
Hurley stopped 17 shots in the win.
Siena has already matched its win total from a season ago, with one win in their final four games, Siena will reach the ten win plateau for the fifth time in the last six seasons.
They will try for the double digit win total when they play Wagner and Marist in Brooklyn, N.Y.
