Siena water polo honored the graduating class of 2012 Saturday, and also split a pair of MAAC contests at the Siena Swim Center. The Saints topped VMI 18-10 in the first game of the day before falling to Iona 13-8 in their final home game of the year.

The Saints (8-19, 3-6 MAAC) dominated from the opening whistle against VMI, holding a 4-0 advantage after one period and a 10-4 lead at the half. Eight members of the Green and Gold scored in the win, with Rebecca Robinson, Lea Allen, Katie Ness, and Melanie Boehrig all tallying three to lead the team.

In contrast to game one, though, Siena stumbled at the start of the nightcap, falling behind 5-1 in the first period and 12-4 entering the fourth. The Saints clawed back in it late, scoring four goals in the final stanza, but it wasn't enough, and the Gaels completed the regular-season sweep.

Siena ends the regular season with three huge games next weekend. It begins with a road game at Villanova Saturday, one that could have massive MAAC Tournament implications for both teams.
