Water Polo Swept in Poughkeepsie

Siena Water Polo dropped two MAAC matchups Wednesday in Poughkeepsie. The Saints were bested by #24 Marist 15-7 in game one and 14-4 in game two. Freshman Diana Fernandez totaled five goals in the doubleheader and reigning Defensive Player of the Week Carly Jackson-Clark recorded 12 combined saves.

Game One: #24 Marist 15, Siena 7

In the first game, Fernandez led the way offensively for Siena, scoring four goals. Junior Clare Bryar added two goals and Sara Lopez scored one for the Saints. Amanda Amorosa led the Red Foxes with four goals.

Jackson-Clark saved three shots, while allowing ten goals in the first half. Sophomore goalie Kennedy Joseph played the final 16 minutes, putting up six saves and allowing five goals. Sarah Abbott and Bryar picked up two steals each for Siena.

Game Two: #24 Marist 14, Siena 4

In the second game of the doubleheader, four different Saints scored one goal each. Fernandez, Bryar, Daniella Fuertes, and Terez Touhey all found the back of the net for Siena.

Jackson-Clark registered nine saves in the contest, adding one steal. Abbott, Fernandez, and Touhey recorded two steals each in the loss.

Siena returns to the pool on Saturday, April 8 in Brooklyn Heights, New York. The Saints will battle the Iona Gaels at 2:30 p.m.
