Siena water polo ended their ten game losing streak Sunday after defeating Saint Francis 10-7 in MAAC play in Poughkeepsie, N.Y. Stephanie Bundas led the way, scoring six goals against Saint Francis. Iona beat the Saints 18-8 in the first match of the day.
Siena jumped out with the early 1-0 lead in the first quarter as Stephanie Bundas scored her first of three goals in the quarter and six goals in the game against Saint Francis. Taylor Young scored early in the second quarter to give the Saints the biggest lead of the day with a 6-2 lead. Siena held on to win 10-7, ending their 10 game losing streak.
Madeline Hurley had her third double-digit saves game this weekend with 10 saves. Hurley also recorded one assist, two steals with a turnover.
In the first game, Siena dropped their match 18-8 for their tenth straight loss. Iona jumped out to a 7-0 lead in the first quarter before Stephanie Bundas found the back of the cage with 13-seconds left in the first. Bundas scored four goals against Iona, bringing her total to 10 goals in both games.
Madeline Hurley started in the cage, giving up 12 goals and recorded five saves. Freshman Sarah Abbott relieved Hurley in the third, recording three saves and Carly Jackson-Clark played the fourth, recording two saves.
Siena improves to 5-17 on the year and will head home this weekend to face Iona and Marist on Saturday, April 5, starting at 9 a.m. and Sunday, April 6 to face VMI and Villanova, starting at 9 a.m. The senior class will be honored on Sunday, prior to their last game against Villanova at 4:00 p.m.
