The water polo team lost two games in the final day of the Wolverine Invitational on Sunday afternoon. The host school, Michigan defeated the Saints 15-6 and Gannon ousted Siena 9-8 in the second game.
Four of the six goals came as the Saints were on the 6-on-5 advantages in the first game against Michigan. Stephanie Bundas and Brianna Ritota led the Saints with two goals each. Melanie Boehrig and Jacque Verdon each scored a goal. Boehrig found the back of the net in the first and Verdon scored in the second.
The Saints struggled offensively as they gave away 21 possessions. Bundas had team high nine turnovers.
Madeline Hurley started in goal and played the first quarter, giving up four goals on eight shots. Sarah Abbot relieved Hurley and finished the game in goal. Abbott recorded 15 saves on 25 shots faced.
In the second game against Gannon, Siena entered the fourth quarter leading 7-6, but could not hold on to the lead as Gannon defeated Siena 9-8. Gannon scored with 1:55 left in the game to secure the win.
Brianna Ritota tied the game at eight with 3:30 left in the game for her second goal of the game. Stephanie Bundas led the Saints with a team high four goals and Melanie Boehrig scored two goals in the first half. Jasmine Carrillo recorded team high three assists.
Madeline Hurley played the entire game in goal, earning nine saves on 17 shots faced.
Siena travels to Villanova for the MAAC season opener this weekend for a double header on March 22 to face Wagner at 12 p.m. and host Villanova at 4 p.m.
