Stephanie Bundas recorded the Hat Trick and led the team with four assists as she helped the Siena Water Polo team earn their first win this season. The Saints defeated Utica College 15-10 at the Siena Swim Center in the Marcelle Athletic Complex.

“We had a real solid effort today with goals scored by many different people on the team,” said coach Ellen Howe. “It was nice to get a win playing at home.”

Bundas scored all three of her goals in the first half as the Saints led Utica College 12-5 at the break. Lea Allen and Samantha Voelker each scored two goals, all coming in the first half.

Freshman Taylor Young scored her first collegiate goal in the first quarter of action. Young recorded three shots on the day and tallied two assists.

Sarah Abbott, freshman goalie earned the win in her first collegiate start. Abbott recorded six saves off 11 shots. Abbott tied for the game high with three steals and recorded one assist. Fellow freshman Carly Jackson-Clark relieved Abbott in the second half. Jackson-Clark had nine saves on 15 shots.

Defensively, the Saints were led by Madison Obata as she earned three ejections drawn, followed by Lea Allen, recording drawing one ejection.

Water Polo travels to Claremont, California for the Claremont Convergence next weekend, March 8th, to face Claremont-Mudd-Scripps (11:40 a.m. PST) and La Verne (3:40 p.m. PST).
