Allen posted a hat trick in the fourth quarter
Feb. 23, 2013
Lea Allen’s three fourth quarter goals were not enough as the Saint’s rally fell short as they dropped their first two games of the 2013 campaign. Siena dropped 12-10 against Mercyhurst after being shutout 12-0 against #12 Princeton.
In the first game, Siena (0-2) was shutout for the first time in nine seasons as they fell to #12 Princeton 12-0. Stephani Pouder started in goal for the Saints and allowed eight goals in her two quarters of work. Madeline Hurley played in the second half of the contest and allowed three.
The afternoon cap against Mercyhurst was more tightly contested. Siena entered the fourth quarter trailing 8-6 and would score four goals in the period, three by Lea Allen but it was not enough as the Lakers pulled away for the 12-10 victory. Melanie Boehrig also recorded a hat trick to go along with her career-high five assists.
Hurley would play in the final three quarters and pick up eight saves and five steals.
Freshman Brianna Ritota tallied her first career goals, posting one in the first and one in the third.
The Saints will wrap up the MAAC/CWPA Crossover tomorrow when they take on George Washington and Harvard.
