Dec. 15, 2017

LOUDONVILLE, NY – Siena College has announced a change in the leadership of its volleyball program. Garvey Pierre will not return as the Saints’ head coach.

Pierre amassed a 227-226 (.501) overall record in 15 seasons at the helm, including a 160-83 ledger (.658) in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference. He guided the Saints to five MAAC Championships and NCAA Tournament appearances in 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, and 2014.

Pierre developed five MAAC Offensive Player of the Year honorees, three MAAC NCAA Woman of the Year nominees, and two Senior CLASS Award candidates. The Saints achieved a perfect 100% GSR in the NCAA’s latest Graduation Success Rate report, and the program has been honored in each of the past three years with NCAA Public Recognition Awards for achieving Academic Progress Rates (APR) in the top-10 percent of their sport nationally.

The Siena Volleyball program has won a total of nine MAAC Championships (1993, 1994, 1995, 1996, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2014), made eight NCAA Tournament appearances (1994, 1995, 1996, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2014) and one NIVC appearance (1993).

A search is underway for the next head coach of the Siena Volleyball program.
