The Siena volleyball team has grown enormously over the course of its season, after the departure of seven seniors last season. Freshman outside hitter Dakota Jackson has helped this team tremendously throughout the season and was honored by the MAAC today by being named Rookie of the Week.
Jackson played solid volleyball this past weekend against second in conference Niagara as well has helping lift the Saints over Canisius as well recording double-doubles in both matches.
She had 14 kills, a .180 attack percentage, and 20 digs forcing the Purple Eagles to go into 5 sets against the Saints Saturday afternoon. Jackson also had 14 kills against the Griffs, a .308 attack percentage, and 15 digs to give the Saints their third home win in four matches.
Throughout both matches she recorded 3.11 kills per set, 3.89 digs per set, and and overall attack percentage of .236 this weekend in Siena’s home finale before finishing up the season on the road.
Jackson and the Saints (6-20, 6-9) travel to face top MAAC opponent Fairfield Wednesday night at 7 p.m. in Fairfield, Connecticut. Siena will face Manhattan and Iona this weekend in the final two regular season matches. Saints will first travel to Riverdale, New York first to take on the Jaspers Saturday at 1 p.m. followed by the Gaels on Sunday in New Rochelle at 1 p.m.
