Akana Repeats as CoSIDA Academic All-District Selection

Senior Taylor Akana was one of 10 volleyball student athletes in the Northeast named to the 2013 CoSIDA Capital One District 1 Team. Akana made the team for the second straight season.

Akana has enjoyed a historic career at Siena on and off the court. She enters this weekend's matches ranked second all-time at Siena with 1,641 kills and fifth with 1,305 digs.

Akana was one of 30 Senior CLASS Award candidates this season, and one of just two in the Northeast. She was a MAAC First Team selection and ECAC All-Star in 2012, MAAC Offensive Player of the Year in 2011 and MAAC Rookie of the Year in 2010.

Akana was the fastest in MAAC history to reach both 1,000 kills and 1,000 digs, and she entered this season ranked fourth nationally among active players in kills.

For her career, Akana has averaged 3.9 kills and 3.1 digs per set.

In the classroom, Akana carries a 3.76 GPA in marketing. She advances to the national ballot where she could become the first Siena volleyball player ever to earn recognition as an Academic All-American.
