Meghann Wright is MAAC Volleyball Rookie of the Week
Nov. 5, 2012
The Siena volleyball team has won nine of its last 10 matches, and enters the final weekend of MAAC play with a shot at claiming a piece of the league's regular-season title. Red-shirt freshman Meghann Wright, who was named MAAC Rookie of the Week today, has been a major reason for the team's improved play. Wright (Hiram, Ohio/Berkshire) continued her hot play on the right side with a big double-double as Siena spoiled Marist's Senior Day Saturday in four sets. Wright killed 11 of her 22 attacks, while adding 12 digs and two blocks. With Siena leading 18-17 in the decisive fourth set, Wright served the Saints to two key points - the second a service ace that pushed the lead to 20-17. In Siena's last six matches, Wright has averaged 2.29 kills per set and is tops on the team with a .400 attack percentage. She has also averaged 1.7 digs and 0.5 blocks per set. Wright and the Saints have already locked up a MAAC Tournament bid. They travel to face Rider and Loyola this weekend.
