Taylor Akana (Kaneohe, Hawaii) was named MAAC Player of the Week for the second time this season Monday. Akana helped the Saints earn a MAAC Tournament berth, averaging 4.7 kills and four digs in home sweeps of Manhattan and Saint Peter's this weekend.

In the team's most important match of the season, Akana had a huge match, tallying 17 kills and 16 digs in the 3-0 win over the fifth place Jaspers Saturday. She set the tone from the start, killing eight of her 13 attacks in the first set leading Siena to a 25-12 rout.

Akana had 11 kills, despite sitting out nearly the entire second set in the 3-0 win over Saint Peter's. The Preseason Player of the Year entered the second set when it was tied at 23-23, killed her first attack to give Siena the lead, and then served the Saints to a 25-23 victory. In the decisive third set, Akana had eight kills and four digs as Siena edged away late for a 25-22 win.

Akana and the Saints have just one match this week, traveling to play Marist in Poughkeepsie Saturday.
