The awards keep coming for Siena senior Lesli Akeo. The Saints libero was named MAAC Libero of the Week for the second time this season after helping the Saints to sweeps of Iona and Canisius.
Last year's MAAC Defensive Player of the Year is making a strong play at this year's inaugural MAAC Libero of the Year honor.
Akeo averaged 6.09 digs per set, and posted match-high digs in all three Siena matches this past week. She began the week with 23 digs in the Saints' home sweep of Iona. In the decisive third set, Akeo had 11 digs, including four on one key late rally.
Akeo was the only player to reach 20 digs in the three-set sweep at Canisius, and she took the match over with her serve in the third set. With the set tied 2-2, Akeo served Siena to 11 straight points and a 13-2 lead.
Akeo finished the week with 24 digs in a tough five-set loss at Niagara - seven more than any other player for either team. She also tied for a match-high with two aces. Akeo ranks in the top-5 nationally with 5.96 digs per set.
Akeo and the Saints have a huge weekend coming up. They host Manhattan in their Dig Pink match Saturday, and take on Saint Peter's Sunday afternoon on Senior Day.
