Siena's Sarah Sivertson was named MAAC Volleyball Player of the Week Monday after helping the Saints to a pair of league wins, including a triumph over preseason favorite Fairfield.
Sivertson (Tyler, Texas/Robert E. Lee) averaged 11.9 assists and 2.2 digs per set from her setter post. In the key win over Fairfield, she killed six of her nine attacks without an error, dished out a match-high 43 assists, and rounded out a double-double with 12 digs.
Sivertson got the whole roster involved in the Saint Peter's sweep, dishing out 13 assists per set. Seven Saints had five kills or more in just three sets against the Peacocks, a testament to Sivertson's sound decision-making.
In Siena's tough five-set loss at Manhattan Sunday, Sivertson had 61 assists. She tallied a career-high seven block assists, and notched eight digs. Four Saints reached double figures in kills thanks to Sivertson's sets, and she killed five of her 12 attacks with just one error.
Sivertson and the Saints return home to take on UAlbany Thursday night in a match that will be televised regionally on Time Warner Cable Sports. First serve is at 7:05 p.m.
