Siena is the MAAC coaches' choice to finish fourth in this year's Preseason Poll. Senior Jacqueline Skeen was named to the seven-member Preseason All-MAAC Team.
The Saints received 70 points in the poll, two more than fifth place Manhattan and four fewer than third place Iona. Last year's runner-up Marist (89) was the coaches' pick to win the conference, followed closely by two-time defending champion Fairfield (87).
Siena returns four of its top five offensive threats from last year along with setter Haley Howell and libero Bobbi Lin Kalama who were both named to the conference's All-Rookie team last season. There are big shoes to fill on the outside though, as three-time MAAC First Team selection Taylor Akana (1,700 career kills, 1,370 career digs) graduated in December.
Skeen (White Plains, N.Y.) was named to the Preseason All-MAAC team for the second straight year. She finished third on the team with 2.18 kills per set as a junior and topped the squad with a .270 attack percentage in the middle. Skeen has 696 career kills and has started 82 of the 85 matches she's played in her career.
The Saints went 13-5 and tied for third in the MAAC in 2013, but missed out on the Tournament for the first time since 2005 after losing out on a three-way tiebreaker. They're guaranteed a spot in this year's field, as all 10 teams qualify for the three-day event which will be held November 20-22 at Disney's Wide World of Sports Complex in Orlando.
