Taylor Akana and the Saints shook off a slow start to down Loyola in four sets Sunday, closing regular-season play with 10 wins in their last 11 matches to lock down the No. 2 seed in next weekend's MAAC Championships.
Siena (20-10, 14-4) will play No. 3 seed Canisius Saturday at 1 p.m. Top seed and host Fairfield plays No. 4 seed and three-time defending MAAC Champion Niagara in the other semifinal.
Akana had her second huge double-double of the weekend, finishing with 19 kills and 21 digs. Senior Lesli Akeo collected 35 digs, marking the seventh time this season she has posted 30 or more.
Siena lost the first set handily 25-16 before rallying for 25-16, 25-21 and 25-21 wins in the next three.
Sarah Sivertson dished out 46 assists and had eight digs.
Rachel Stoklosa ended with 13 kills and 14 digs, and Jacqueline Skeen had 11 kills in the middle.
Faye Lukas led Loyola with 14 kills and rounded out a double-double with 13 digs.
The Saints will be trying for their ninth MAAC Championship next weekend, and first since 2008.
