Taylor Akana posted a career-best .457 hitting percentage in Sunday's win

Taylor Akana is playing with the urgency you'd expect from a senior trying to lead her team to the playoffs. Siena's star outside hitter killed 19 of her 35 swings and rounded out her second big double-double of the weekend with 15 digs in a 3-0 (25-15, 25-22 and 25-20) sweep of Niagara Sunday.
Akana hit .457 on the outside, the top hitting percentage of her sensational career.
The Saints also got 10 kills from Meghann Wright and 19 digs from libero Bobbi Lin Kalama.
Siena dominated play in the first set, hitting .345 in a 10-point win. They led 19-11 in the second set before Niagara rallied late. The third set was the most competitive, as Niagara led 14-11 before Siena used a 10-2 run to take command.
Setter Haley Howell had 39 assists in the three sets and killed two o0f her four attacks.
Niagara played well up front, out-blocking Siena 11-3. The Purple Eagles got 11 kills from Amanda Sadore.
The Saints close out regular-season play with a pair of league matches next weekend. They host Rider Saturday at 1 p.m. and Saint Peter's on Sunday at 1 p.m.
