LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. - Lauren Weber (Sayville, N.Y./Connetquot) had 19 kills in the Saints win over Manhattan today, three-games-to-two. The Siena volleyball squad improved to 17-9 and 7-1 in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference action, while the Jaspers dropped to 11-15, 5-3 in MAAC. Ron Racey's team halted Manhattan's four-game winning streak coming into today's match.
Manhattan took the early lead in game one, winning 30-27, but the Green and Gold wouldn't lose hope. When game two looked hopeless, the Saints were losing 29-26, freshman Diana Wierzba (Eden, N.Y./Eden), led the rally where Siena took the game 33-31.
Game three went to the Saints, who won by 12. Manhattan rallied to win a close game four 30-27, but in game five the Saints won 19-17.
Siena returns to the court to face undefeated MAAC rival St. Peter's tomorrow at 1 p.m. at the Alumni Recreation Center.
