Siena is hosting the MAAC Volleyball Championships later this month, but unless the Saints can turn things around they may be watching the action from the stands. Marist completed a rare series sweep of Siena 3-1 (25-22, 24-26, 25-18 and 25-12) in Poughkeepsie Saturday. It was the fourth straight MAAC loss for the Saints.
Kelsey Lahey led the Red Foxes with 12 kills, Courtney Shaw and Mackenzie Stephens each added 11.
Taylor Akana led all players with 15 kills for the Saints, but she needed 53 attacks to get there. The Saints had 12 service errors and 29 attack errors, accounting for 41 Marist points.
The only bright spot came in the second set, when the Saints snapped a nine-set losing streak with a 26-24 victory.
Marist used a 4-0 run to break free from a 16-14 lead in a 25-18 triumph in the third set, and they dominated the fourth 25-12.
Haley Howell had 44 assists for Siena and libero Bobbi Lin Kalama added 22 digs. Meghann Wright finished eight of her 22 swings and added 15 digs. Akana completed her double-double with 12 digs.
The Saints finish their season with four straight home matches, beginning next weekend against fast-charging Canisius and Niagara.
