LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. - Senior captain Jennifer Corkum (Newtown, Conn.) led a balanced Siena (6-19) attack with 15 kills and five blocks as the Saints rallied from a 2-1 deficit to defeat Niagara University in five games in Niagara Falls Sunday afternoon. Classmate Marissa Gregg and sophomore Diana Wierzba added 11 kills a piece for the victors.
Niagara edged the Saints 32-30 in the first game, but Siena bounced back to take the second, 30-24. The Purple Eagles then won the third game 30-21, but the Saints again answered with a 30-27 triumph in game four. Siena took the decisive fifth game 15-7.
Setter Kerrie McHugh notched 49 assists, completing the strong effort of the Saints' senior class.
Michelle LeSouder led Niagara with 16 kills. Micole Daluisio collected a game-high 21 digs.
Siena will host Binghamton a week from today at 2 p.m.
