Lauren Weber, Christie Gustafson and Amy Christensen combined for 58 kills as Siena rallied to defeat Loyola 3-2 in a MAAC volleyball match in Baltimore Sunday afternoon. The win was the second straight conference victory for the Saints who had lost their first five conference games of the season.
Loyola escaped game one with a 30-28 win, but Siena responded in game two with a 30-26 victory to knot the match at one game apiece. In game three, Loyola took control with a four-point run late in the match and held on to win 30-24 to take the lead 2-1. However, the visiting Saints were able to pull off games four (30-28) and five (15-12) to clinch the match.
Siena took an 11-1 lead to start Game Four before Loyola chipped away to finally tie the score at 28, only to see the Saints capture the next two points and the game to force a deciding Game Five, which Siena won 15-12.
The Greyhounds were led by Corb's match-high 27 kills, Leffers' 22 kills and 14 digs, Christine Lopez's 11 kills, and Biegaj's 61 assists, as well as Megan Maguire's match-high 21 digs.
The Saints were led by Lauren Weber (24 kills, 14 digs), Christie Gustafson (20 kills, 8 digs), Amy Christensen (14 kills, 5 digs), and Katie Borrett (64 assists, 16 digs).
Loyola falls to 3-22 overall and 1-4 in the MAAC with the loss while Siena improves to 5-19 and 2-5 in the MAAC.
