Siena Rallies Past Rider for First MAAC Win

Lauren Weber (Sayville, N.Y.) recorded 20 kills and 18 digs to lead the Siena volleyball team (6-15/1-4 MAAC) to a 3-1 MAAC win over Rider (4-17/0-4 MAAC) at the Alumni Recreation Center Sunday afternoon. The victory stopped a four-game losing streak for the Saints and gave the team its first conference win of the season.

The first game was the most competitive of the afternoon, as the Saints held off a late Rider rally for a 30-28 victory. Siena easily took the second game 30-19, but the Broncs bounced back to take the third 30-20. The Saints dominated play in the decisive fourth game, winning 30-11.

In addition to Weber, seniors Marissa Gregg and Jennifer Corkum provided an offensive spark for the Green and Gold. Gregg registered a .444 hitting percentage and nine kills, while Corkum had 10 kills for the victors. Sophomore Diana Wierzba notched eight kills and 11 digs and setter Kerrie McHugh recorded 45 assists.

Jaclyn Levi led the way for Rider with 15 kills and 11 digs.

The Saints return to action on Wednesday against St. John's at home.
