Mary Hamsher recorded 17 kills and Loyola (12-10/3-0 MAAC) held a commanding 13-2 advantage in team blocks as the Greyhounds cruised to a 3-0 sweep of Siena (5-14/0-5) in a conference match played at the Alumni Recreation Center Saturday afternoon. Siena's Lauren Weber (Sayville, N.Y.) notched 19 kills in a losing effort.

Loyola was dominant from the start, breaking open a close first game to score 10 of the final 15 points en route to a 30-23 triumph. In the second game, the Greyhouds coasted to a 30-21 victory, and in the third, they rallied from a 7-2 deficit and held off two match points to earn the 33-31 win.

Middle blockers Christine Lopez and Lindsay Mead controlled the action at the net for Loyola. Lopez connected on six of her attempts and registered three blocks and Mead added four rejections for the victors.

Junior Katie Sarkovics and sophomore Dianan Wierzba had nine and seven digs respectively for the Saints. Freshman Amy Christensen also played well, as the Saints scored seven straight points off her service in the third match. She was second on the team with five kills.

Siena returns to action at 1 p.m. Sunday in a MAAC Match with Rider to be played in Loudonville.
