Christina Wildes posted a game-high 20 kills and added a team-high 21 digs as Canisius exploded past Siena 3-1 in MAAC volleyball action Sunday in Buffalo. Diana Wierzba contributed a game-high 27 digs and added 10 kills in a losing effort for Siena.
The Saints (7-11/1-2 MAAC) bounced back from a 30-23 setback in the first game to win the second 30-27. The Golden Griffins (8-11/1-1 MAAC) turned up the heat in the second half of the match, winning game three 30-14 and game four 30-17.
Christie Gustafson again led the Siena attack with 12 kills. Freshman Janine Pesusich had an efficient effort for the visitors with seven kills in just 13 attempts. Liz Hubbard compiled six kills in 15 attempts in the middle. Kim Hoffman (17) and Mary Boller (15) joined Wildes with double-figure kills for Canisius.
The Saints have dropped three straight matches after winning four in a row earlier in the month. The Saints have a week before returning to action against Fordham next Sunday in a Time Warner Cable televised game at 2 p.m.
