Poughkeepsie, N.Y. - The Marist College volleyball team opened Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) play with a 3-1 (30-28, 30-22, 34-32, 30-20) win over Siena (5-11, 0-1) on Wednesday night at the McCann Center. It was the Red Foxes first win in MAAC play since October 22, 2000. With the victory, the Red Foxes improved to 5-13 on the season, and 1-0 in conference play.

The Red Foxes took the first game as play was closely contested. Marist was tied with Siena 26-26 before scoring four of the last six points to win the first game. The Red Foxes took a 24-21 advantage in the second game and rallied by notching six of the last seven points for the win.

Marist led 25-20 in the third game, but Siena came from behind to win 34-32. The Red Foxes fought back and were able to put away the Saints in the fourth game and claim the win.

Marist was led by Aline dos Santos (Sao Paulo, Brazil), who posted a double-double with 24 kills and 13 digs on the night. Michelle Turley (Stevensville, MI) also reached double figures in kills and digs, with 13 and 14, respectively. Meghan Cochrane (Placentia, CA) added 57 assists for the Red Foxes.

Lauren Weber led Siena with 23 kills and 20 digs. Kerrie McHugh added 50 assists for the Saints.
