Volleyball Drops Match to Marist

Siena Volleyball dropped the match 3-0 (25-16, 25-18, 25-14) to arch rival Marist. Senior Bobbi Lin Kalama continued to climb the all-time digs list as she now sits in fifth.

The two conference foes battled it out to start the first set. Neither team would take a clear cut advantage as they exchanged points. Marist went on a 4-0 run to take a 16-11 lead. The Saints didn’t give in and chipped away at the lead. The Red Foxes went on another 4-0 run for a 24-15 lead. Marist took the first set 25-16.

Starting off with a 4-1 lead, Marist continued to maintain their advantage in the second set. Siena cut the lead as they trailed 14-10, but it would not be enough to stop the Red Foxes. Marist continued to hold tight to the lead as they took the second set 25-18.

For the third set it would be Marist again that would begin with a 6-3 lead. Siena did not stop battling the Red Foxes and trailed just 9-6. Marist went off on a 4-0 run for a 16-8 lead. The Red Foxes took the third set and match 25-14.

Briana Flagg led the Saints with nine kills, while Kelly Chaney added six. Haley Howell dished out 21 assists for Siena. Kalama led Siena with seven digs, which placed her fifth on the All-Time Saints List with a total of 1,352. Howell and Kalehua Katagiri both tallied six digs in the loss.

Siena will continue their road trip on Saturday, October 1st against Manhattan. First serve is set for 1 p.m.
