West Hartford, CT - Siena rallied from a two-game deficit to defeat the University of Hartford 3-2 on Wednesday night in West Hartford. The Saints dropped the first two games 16-30 and 28-30 before rallying in the final three games 30-27, 30-25 and 15-10. Hartford is now 1-3 overall while Siena improves to 8-1 on the season.
Siena was led by junior Jennifer Corkum (Newtown, CT) who had 22 kills in just 34 attempts and added three block solos and three block assists. Senior setter Sarah Watkins (Canastota) posted 53 assists in the win and added a team-high 18 digs.
The Hawks were led by freshman Stephanie Volckers (Hamburg, Germany) who led the team with 31 kills and 19 digs. Junior setter Danielle Scoggins (Las Cruces, NM) posted 52 assists for Hartford in the loss and sophomore Kelly McEathron (Ballston Spa, NY) had 26 kills and 12 digs.
The Hawks will be in action again this weekend when they travel to the Rider Invitational on Friday and Saturday, September 21-22.
