Volleyball Earns Split at Colgate

Diana Wierzba took advantage of a rare start on the outside to amass 12 kills and registered a .273 hitting percentage as Siena salvaged its final match in the Colgate Classic with a 3-0 win over the host Raiders in Hamilton on Saturday afternoon. Princeton defeated Siena 3-0 earlier in the day.

Sophomore Christie Gustafson led the Saints with 13 kills in the Colgate win, and setter Abbie Maciolek played one of her top matches of the season collecting 49 assists. Amy Christensen added 10 kills and Liz Hubbard had nine.

Laurel Oliver led all players with 15 kills for Colgate. The win snapped a five-game losing streak for the Saints.

Earlier in the day, Princeton remained perfect on the season, improving to 6-0 with a straight-game victory over Siena. Gustafson led the Saints with 15 kills in a losing effort. Alex Brown had 14 for the victors.

Siena returns to action on Tuesday at Albany.
