Final Stats

Rachael Travis collected 13 kills and teammate Leah Shubin added 12 as Army (2-4) defeated Siena (2-5) in a non-conference volleyball match played in the Alumni Recreation Center. The loss was the Saints' second to the Black Knights this season.

Army erased a five-point deficit in the first game, and broke free for a 30-26 win. The Black Knights carried that momentum to a convincing 30-22 game two victory. In the decisive third game, Siena battled back to create a dramatic finish. After the two teams exchanged points, Army's Caitlin Machon served the game-winning ace for the 35-33 win.

Lauren Weber led a balanced Siena attack with nine kills and a game-best 16 digs. The Saints benefited from 20 Army service errors.

Travis controlled the action all night in the middle as Siena's starting middle hitter Jennifer Corkum missed her second consecutive match with injury. Travis compiled five blocks with the defending All-MAAC selection on the bench.

Prior to the match, the Siena College ROTC unit presented the national colors and former Siena student Tom Templeton sang the national anthem as part of a pregame ceremony recognizing the tragic events of September 11, 2001.

Siena returns to action on Saturday at 1 p.m. against Central Connecticut U niversity in the Alumni Recreation Center.
