Siena Volleyball closes out their time at the Valley Forge Sports Invitational with a 3-0 (25-21, 25-18, 25-18) loss to tournament host La Salle.
Samantha Graver notched a double-double for La Salle (8-2) with 10 kills and 13 digs. Devin Corah tallied 13 kills. Kathyn Wood dished out 30 assists, while Jensen Sharrits tallied 20 digs.
La Salle started off quickly taking the first three points of the set. The Saints were able to make a comeback and took a 15-13 lead before the Explorers tied the set at 15 a piece. Siena then went on a 4-0 run to take a 19-15 lead, but La Salle would not give in and tied the set 19-19. After an exchange of points back and forth, the Explorers took the final three points of the set to take the victory 25-21.
The second set started just like the first set ended with each team exchanging points back and forth. After a 12-12 tie, the Explorers went on a 4-0 run before the Saints called a timeout down 16-12. La Salle would never look back at that point and continued to add onto the lead. Siena would bring the set within four, 19-15. The Explorers would close out the second set 25-18 to take a 2-0 lead in the match.
Siena and La Salle would start the third set as the second started with neither taking a definitive lead. It would be the Explorers off of three kills and an attack error that would give them the 12-9 victory that would be definitive turning point. Siena continued to battle and brought the score within one 13-12, but La Salle continued to hold off the Saints and took the final set and match 25-18.
The Saints remain on the road for their final tournament of the regular season when they travel to Durham, New Hampshire for the New Hampshire Tournament. Siena will take on tournament host UNH on Friday, Sept. 15 at 7 p.m.
