The Siena volleyball team (1-4) appeared to be on its way to an easy win Friday night after a convincing 30-14 victory in the first game of its non-conference match at Army (1-3). However, the Black Knights had different ideas, rallying to take the final three games and the match.
Senior Jennifer Corkum and junior Lauren Weber led Siena's offensive attack with 10 and 16 kills respectively. Junior Amanda Carrk put forth a sensational defensive effort, recording 17 digs in defeat. Classmate Katie Sarkovics and sophomore Diana Weirzba combined for 26 defensive digs for the Green and Gold which lost for the fourth time in five matches this season.
Army was sparked by 13 kill performances from Leah Shubin and Caitlin Machon. Shubin also notched 20 digs for the Black Knights.
The Saints open their home season on Sunday at 4 p.m. against Maine.
