The Siena volleyball team (0-2) began its season this afternoon dropping a pair of matches in the first round of the two-day LaSalle University Invitational in Philadelphia. The Saints lost their first match 3-0 to conference foe Manhattan and later fell to host LaSalle 3-1.
In the nightcap, junior Lauren Weber paced Siena's effort with 26 kills and 17 digs. Weber connected on a team-best 43% of her total attacks. Freshman Liz Hubbard flashed signs of brilliance against the Explorers notching five kills in just 17 attempts. Senior Jennifer Corkum had eight kills and sophomore Diana Wierzba added six in defeat.
Elizabeth Cron recorded 16 kills to lead three players in double-figure kills for the victors.
LaSalle won the first game 30-27, the second 30-22 and the decisive fourth game 30-22. Siena captured game 3, 30-17.
