|Marissa Gregg 19
GENERAL... Will be asked to step up her game and contribute actively to the Saints' front row attack…Great arm speed and strength make her a weapon on offense...Confident player who has shown the capability to win at any level…Developed into one of the team's top options late last season…Expectations are high after strong spring workouts.
AS A JUNIOR...Appeared in all 28 matches and in 97 games…Finished season fourth on team in kills (136) and kills per game (1.4/game)…Second on the squad in solo blocks (12) and third in overall rejections (43)…Compiled the second best hitting percentage on the team (.262)…Best performance came in five-set win over Iona (11/1) as she registered 14 kills in only 26 attempts (.462) and a team-high seven blocks.
AS A SOPHOMORE...Appeared in 19 matches and 24 games…Notched 17 kills in only 54 attempts…Collected seven blocks and 13 digs.
AS A FRESHMAN...Saw limited action in 15 matches and 19 games, playing her best volleyball of the season at the end of the year...Compiled 13 kills in 38 games (.684/game)...Ended season with seven digs and three blocks.
PERSONAL...Born January 23, 1981 in Nyack, N.Y...Three-time letterwinner in volleyball at 1996 New York State Champion North Rockland High School ...Two-time First-Team All-State selection...Appeared on Good Morning America with Gabrielle Reese...Has younger brother (Raymond) and sister (Christina)…Chose to attend Siena because of the small class size and overall atmosphere…The daughter of Raymond and Susan Gregg.
RACEY ON GREGG..."Though undersized for a middle hitter, Marissa stepped into a starting last season and never relinquished the spot. This year she will see time in the middle and the right side, which should give us a big boost in our blocking game."
