Jessica Macaluso of Shenedehowa High School has returned a National Letter of Intent to play tennis at Siena beginning next season. Macaluso posted a perfect 17-0 record at top singles as a junior at Shen, guiding the Plainsmen to the Sectional Championship where she was the No. 1 seed.
"We are very pleased to announce the signing of Jessica," Head Coach Andy Christodoulou said. "She brings a strong work ethic, USTA tournament experience, and will make an immediate impact on our program. She is a great individual who will fit perfectly with our program and make the team better in every aspect on and off the court."
Macaluso advanced to the Final Four in the Sectional Championships last season and was named to the Capital District All-Star team. She was voted team captain this year and stands second in all-time career wins on the varsity women's tennis team at Shen. She also was a member of the Empire State Games First Doubles Team and received the Most Honored Player distinction by her teammates and coach.
"It is great to have a local player like Jessica to help us take the program to the next level," Christodoulou said. "She is working on her game on a daily basis and she is one of the hardest working junior tennis players in the Capital District. Her work ethic and love for the game really impressed me. Siena College has a reputation of recruiting top local talent, and Jessica is at the top when it comes to girl's tennis in this area."
