Carly Holloway, the only senior on this year's Siena women's tennis team, has been named the lone captain. Holloway will also join junior Jessica Macaluso as the team representatives on Siena's Student Athlete Advisory Committee. Junior Cassie Braz will serve as a Student Athlete Mentor.
"It has been a privilege for me to work with Carly for the last three years," head coach Andy Christodoulou said. "She has proven she is an intelligent, confident young lady who will guide the team to many more successes. Carly's unique ability to analyze issues and situations without getting rattled and come up with solutions and alternative answers is unmatched."
Holloway (Willoughby, Ohio) has won 29 singles matches (29-27) and 27 doubles matches (27-26) in her first three years with the program, playing at the top of the rotation.
Macaluso (Clifton Park, N.Y.), a rising junior, has 17 singles wins and 11 doubles wins in her two years at Siena. She moved from No. 5 singles to No. 4 singles as a sophomore and is expected to play a key role in again this year.
Braz (Monson, Mass.) was a Second Team All-MAAC selection in 2013 at No. 6 singles. At one point, she won six straight matches in which she didn't allow her opponent to reach three points in any set.
"Jessica and Cassie have matured into fine young ladies who our younger student athletes look up to," Christodoulou said. "They are hands down the hardest workers on the tennis courts, and the weight room. In addition, I feel they will be able to assist Carly and provide valuable input when needed. I wish them the best and I am certain they will do a great job."
