LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. - Siena Women's Tennis Head Coach Andy Christodoulou has identified his captains and SAAC reps for the 2012-13 season. Rising senior Brittany Filip and rising junior Carly Holloway will serve as captains while Filip and classmate Elora Benfer will represent the program on Siena's Student Athlete Advisory Committee.
"I expect both new captains to exhibit the highest levels of character, work ethic and vocal leadership," said Christodoulou. "I expect them day-in and day-out to continually drive themselves and their teammates to pursue new levels of achievement both on and off the court. They are the perfect combination to help develop the type of team mentality and chemistry that winning teams need."
Filip won seven matches overall last season including a pair in MAAC play. A native of Vestal, N.Y., Filip was named to the MAAC All-Academic Team following the season.
"Brittany's veteran presence, communication and people skills will add another dimension to this important role," noted Christodoulou.
A native of Willoughby, Ohio, Holloway went 4-2 in MAAC action and won nine matches over the course of the school year.
"Carly's composure, creativity and leadership presence will guide our team no matter what the scenario is," added Christodoulou.
Benfer, who hails from Milton, N.Y., posted a team-best .667 winning percentage going 10-5 overall and teamed with Filip to go 5-3 in doubles action.
"Britt and Elora are respected by their teammates, understand the team concept, have numerous student athlete experiences and work hard every day," commented Christodoulou. "I'm looking forward to working with them to represent our team in SAAC at the highest level possible."
