May 11, 2010
Head Women's Tennis Coach Andy Christodoulou announced the signing of his first recruit to a National Letter of Intent. Carly Holloway of Willoughby, Ohio has committed to the Saints and will join the program in the fall. Holloway played first singles at Willoughby-Eastlake South High School, posting a 19-1 record. A three-time district qualifier, she was a Division I Sectional Champion in 2009 and is currently ranked #18 in the state of Ohio. Her USTA Tournament record stands at 26-19. "We are extremely excited to add Carly to the roster," Christodoulou said. "We are filling the roster with quality tennis player who will be competitive in the MAAC." Holloway is expected to have an immediate impact on the program at both the doubles and singles positions. She brings vast USTA Tournament match play experience to the program and is constantly competing in tournaments and working hard on her game. "Carly's game is simply suited for the collegiate game," Christodoulou added. "She has the ability to control every shot and then finish points at the right opportunity. In simple terms, she will make us a better team right from the start." Holloway should fit in well with the Siena community. She is an excellent student who has a strong work ethic and positive attitude in the classroom and on the court. "Carly will be a great fit for our team, campus and the Siena community," Christodoulou said. "I see her being a future leader as she progresses through her years as a Siena Saint." Holloway is the daughter of Jim and Denise Holloway. She plans to major in biochemistry/pre-med.
