Fresh off a MAAC semifinal appearance, the Siena women's tennis program has announced a new addition. Head Coach Andy Christodoulou confirmed today that Cassie Braz has returned her signed National Letter of Intent to play tennis at Siena beginning in the fall.

"Cassie is a presidential scholar and an awesome athlete," Christodoulou said. "She is a huge credit to her family, which I have gotten to know very well. She is friendly, cheerful, polite, respectful, a real down to earth young lady that fits with our values here at Siena!"

Braz hails from Monson, Massachusetts and is a right handed player who is very strong on the ball, with a bouncy kick serve. Her game also includes a forehand with great topspin, and a solid double-hand backhand. Braz is described as a good doubles player who is equally comfortable on the baseline or at the net, and a tremendous teammate with a big heart. She is naturally athletic and has excellent hand-eye coordination.

"Cassie, is not afraid of hard work," Christodoulou added. "I love her even-tempered manner on the court and her `never-say-die' attitude. Cassie will make an immediate contribution to the doubles and singles play."

Braz joins Jessica Macaluso, who signed her NLI during the early signing period in November. Both student athletes are Presidential Scholars at Siena.
