The Siena women's tennis team will spend its spring break competing in the USPTR Spring Tennisfest in Hilton Head, S.C. The Saints are set to participate in four dual matches from March 12-15.
"I am excited to announce our spring trip match schedule," head coach Andy Christodoulou said. "We have four good matches setup that will prepare us for our conference play.
This is the second straight year the Saints have participated in the Tournament. Last year, Siena played three matches, losing to George Mason and South Carolina State and sweeping Savannah State.
"The USPTR does a wonderful job of organizing the entire event," Christodoulou said. "From practice court time to the BBQ for all the teams, and everything in-between."
15 teams are confirmed to participate in the Tournament. Siena will play Gardner Webb, South Carolina State, South East Missouri and Savannah State.
"It is a good mix of stronger and equal playing level teams, and each match will be a test that will allows to improve," Christodoulou said.
It's possible Siena could add a match at the event.
"The ladies understand this is the time to put the extra hours on the court and fine tune their games without the pressure of academics," Christodoulou said. "The location, the court setup, the weather, the opponents, the mental state of the team create a productive environment to work extra hard on the courts, and relax and smile a lot off the courts."
