The ITA Northeast Regional Championship kicked off on Penn’s home courts in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on Wednesday with qualifying singles action. Siena freshman Kylie Mullaney in singles and freshman Nanea Perkins along with Natalie Weaver in doubles earned their spots in the main draws.
“The girls played so well this week against the top level in our region,” said head coach Jeff Osborn. “Overall, it was a great week of tennis.”
Mullaney played against Lolade Ogungbusan of Buffalo and fought a hard battle. Ogungbusan would come out on top 7-5, 7-6 (4).
Weaver and Perkins first took on Valerie Shklover and Opala Dhingra of Yale. The duo defeated the Bulldogs 8-3. Then when facing Dartmouth’s Mathis and Lyn they fell 8-2 in the matchup.
Mullaney will play in the back draw for singles on Friday, October 20.
