Siena Women's Tennis went into the final day of the Mount St. Mary's Tournament with three student athletes set up to take home the championship title in their respective flights. Freshman Kylie Mullaney and sophomore Juliana Goehner took the titles in flights B and D, respectively.
"Freshman Kylie Mullaney had an incredible first weekend of college tennis taking 2 championships in her first matches of her college career," said head coach Jeff Osborn. "I believe all the ladies played well and should be a good season ahead for the Saints."
Mullaney beat fellow Saint Rina Sakai in the championship flight 6-3, 6-3. Goehner won the D flight championship 6-2, 0-6, 10-8.
The Saints won seven out of nine matches they played in the final day of the tournament. In flight A, Ivana Boberic took fourth after falling 6-2, 7-6(5), 10-7 to Alexa Quintanilla of Mount St. Mary. Weaver won the consolation finals in the same flight with a 6-3, 6-3 win over Amanda Lanciano of Loyola.
Nanea Perkins won third place in flight C beating Megan Smith of Mount St. Mary's 6-2, 6-4. Annessa Leyva won the consolation final 4-6, 7-6, 10-6. In Flight E, Ann Phillips took third place after winning in straight sets 6-2, 6-1.
The Saints will head to Buffalo, New York on Friday, October 6 for the Buffalo Invitational hosted by Buffalo.
