Rider Defeats Siena Women in First Round MAAC Tennis Tourney

Rider won four of the six singles matches to earn a 4-3 win over Siena in the First Round of the MAAC Tennis Championships Friday afternoon at the USTA Tennis Center in Flushing Meadows, N.Y. Meghan Slenkamp and Sugam Langer won at fourth and fifth singles for the Saints, and Siena won two of the three doubles matches to earn the doubles point.

Playing without #1 singles player Denisa Hluchova, the Saints lost at each of the top three singles spots. Amanda Doetsch held off a solid effort from Karina Davis, winning 6-3 and 6-4 at top singles to set the stage. Fisher and Slenkamp also teamed to win at second doubles, and Julia Lebedev and Molly Scullin won the others doubles match for Siena, which falls into the consolation bracket of the Tournament tomorrow and Sunday.
