Women's Tennis Falls to .500 in MAAC
April 15, 2012 The Siena women's tennis team dropped their second tight MAAC decision on the road in less than 24 hours Sunday, falling 5-2 at Saint Peter's. Jessica Macaluso and Elora Benfer registered Siena's points at No. 5 and Mo. 6 singles. Saint Peter's began the match with a close doubles win. Jasleen Sandhu and Carly Holloway won 8-5 for Siena at top doubles, but the Peacocks won No. 2 doubles 8-6 and No. 3 doubles 8-3. In singles play, Saint Peter's won at the top three spots by straight sets, and Joniesa Williams topped Danielle Crill 5-7, 6-2 and 10-3 in a super tiebreaker at No. 4. Macaluso cruised to a 601 and 6-2 win over Ivana Grbelja at No. 5 singles, and Benfer defeated Jessica Nowogrodzki 6-2 and 6-1 to account for final margin. The Siena women finish their season Friday with a MAAC match against Fairfield at Schenectady's Central Park. Singles Results:
