Women’s Tennis Sweeps Monmouth

Siena Women’s Tennis swept Monmouth 7-0 on Saturday afternoon in West Long Branch, New Jersey. The Saints improve to 4-1 in league play.

Ivana Boberic and Juliana Goehner won 6-1 at doubles two to help the Saints need just one more doubles court to clinch the point. Rina Sakai and Julia Dunbar at doubles three also won 6-1 to clinch the doubles point. Anessa Leyva and Ann Phillips took down Monmouth at doubles one, but after Siena led 1-0 heading into singles.

Sakai quickly went to work winning 6-0,6-0 at singles four to lead Monmouth 2-0. Leyva was not far behind Sakai as she took down Rachel Rosenthal 6-1, 6-1 at singles three. Goehner clinched the Saints match point with a 6-2, 6-0 at singles five to lead 4-0. Boberic at singles one, Dunbar at singles six and Perkins at singles two all won in straight sets to give Siena the complete 7-0 sweep of the Hawks.

Siena will host Fairfield on Saturday, April 21 at Central Park in Schenectady, New York. Match time is set for 11 a.m.
